Dear Friends and Partners,
With things partially shut down due to COVID-19, we were still able to attend several prayer events in Washington, DC, and participate in some local events. The National Prayer Assembly in DC, which we had planned to attend in October, was changed to a virtual event. We really missed gathering with people from around the country to pray for specific programs and agencies in our government. It is a bi-annual event so hopefully we can attend again in 2022.
We did participate in person in “The Prayer March”, which was held in DC in September. It was a prayer walk organized by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. People from all over the country came to pray and worship at the National Mall. There was a beautiful atmosphere of the Holy Spirit and spontaneous worship sprang up amongst the attendees gathered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial prior to the start of the event. After several speakers and musicians led us in prayer and worship, we marched up the mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol Building praying in strategic pre-designated areas. During the event we were surprised and blessed to have the Vice President and Karen Pence join us in prayer.
We took part in our annual FIRE International Missionary Conference in Concord, NC, and then travelled back to Washington, DC, in October to be a part of several prayer events that were going on prior to the National General Election. As we walked and prayed along the streets around the White House, we were grieved in our spirits to see the condition of the buildings, with plywood nailed over the windows and new security walls constructed around the White House grounds. The buildings on the streets north of Lafayette Park were covered with graffiti and many showed signs of previous looting and destruction.
On this trip we took part in a worship and prayer service at David’s Tent on the Mall. One evening we attended the “Let Us Worship” event led by Worship Leader Sean Feucht. We had hoped to spend time praying with a group that had been granted a permit to pray and worship in Lafayette Park, but the DC Parks Department rescinded their permit due to security issues.
We participated in a Love Life event in Charlotte one Saturday morning in November. This ministry holds a weekly worship and prayer event next to an abortion clinic. They have seen a number of women who went to the clinic for an abortion but changed their minds and decided to keep their babies. The stories of these women are amazing and they show the goodness of our God in preserving the lives of the innocent. Our next trip to DC will be for the March for Life 2021. We are hoping the March will be allowed to take place in spite of any COVID 19 restrictions.
Love in Christ,
Guy and Sarah
