Dear Family & Friends, January 2021
Happy New Year!
A.W. & I are praying for you all as we begin 2021. It goes without saying that 2020 was such a difficult year for everyone. What we all knew as normal has totally changed with COVID-19 and the new procedures that have and are affecting our lives. We pray that this newsletter finds you and your house healthy, comfort for those who have lost love ones, provision for all that you need, jobs, closer walk with the Lord etc.
Today at the red light and there was a man and his daughter (probably 8-10 years old) with a sign asking for help. I rolled down my window and he said Thank you God bless you!” When we handed the food to him, he said with tears running down his face that he was just praying to God for food. They are living on the streets and the temps here are down in the 20’s at night this week.
Men’s breakfast – A.W. gave some testimonies
While in Jackson TN A.W. has been attending a men’s group and was asked to share some testimonies to encourage the men and share what God has done and is doing in his life.
Teen Challenge Savannah TN
A.W. being a Teen Challenge graduate in 1998, when we are in the USA he tries to spend time ministering to the men in various centers. Rev. Jim Forakis invited A.W. to come and minister to the men at Savannah Teen Challenge. After a time of ministry A.W. spent time sharing/ministering to the men individually for the next few hours.
Food Bank/Community Kitchen
It is really difficult to say actually how many families/people have been fed due to your generous giving. But just to let you know an approximate number during 2020 we have served more than 1,300 hot & cold meals, made more than 750 bags of food/health and beauty products to help those without any means to support themselves.
Children’s Christmas outreach
The Children’s Christmas outreach happened on Saturday December 19, 2020. Before we left Mexico to go to Jackson TN for Christmas we left Lety with stuffed animals, various toys, sandals, crayons, markers, hats/gloves etc. They were also blessed with bags of balls to give to the children as well. Everyone that attended was given a meal. Most likely the gifts the children received that day would be the only gift that they would get this year. Things are still very difficult not only in the USA and Mexico but all over the world. There were 364 children in attendance including those children with special needs. A.W. & I want to say thank you so very much to all those that gave finances, toys and items when we were in the USA last year and prayed for these people. You are helping to make a difference in the lives of these less fortunate people during a very difficult time.
Home for Thanksgiving & Christmas/Helping A.W.’s mom
We had only been home for Christmas with the girls one time. So we decided to surprise A.W.’s mom (Margaret) on her birthday and tell her that we although it was a working trip that we would be coming to see her for Thanksgiving and Christmas. A.W.’s mom turned 84 in October and we have been blessed to be here spending time with her, and helping with trips to the doctors, grocery stores etc.
We will be heading back to Mexico approximately January 4th, 2021 and we would appreciate your prayers.
In His Service,
AW & Kathy
