Hello All,

It is hard to believe that it has been a year already.

This month has flown by. It has been a month full of emotions, breakthroughs, and sorrow.

First the sorrow, the pastor, Fredrick, from the first church that we visited here in Hunter Arkansas passed away. He sold us our truck for a very good price, put us to work in the community by hiring me to work with him, he introduced me to Bartley, and when he retired from construction this year, he passed his mantle in the community to Bartley and me when he gave us his old jobs. It is hard to believe that he has Gone home to Jesus.

My mom came down for a week visit for Zeruiah’s birthday. It was great to see her after a year.

Becki’s mom is still with us, she is a fireball, and has 2 main widows in the town that she works with, she is always pointing them to Jesus and the Bible. I am proud of her for her boldness for the Gospel.

I have had the opportunity to speak on three occasions in the area. It feels good to be able to preach again after several months.

Bartley has come so far so fast, it is exciting to see how grounded he has become. When we met, in his words, he was done with God, and now he is talking about becoming a martyr in Africa.  I am very proud of him as well. He is a very fast learner. He is also wanting to join us in Brazil one day.

We are trying to find an insurance company that will insure the bus.  Our previous insurance was for 3 years and that ran out September 20. Progressive insured us for a little bit and then canceled us. We are waiting to hear back from another company, but there may be an issue with the age of the bus, we are told that the rv conversion is not a problem with this company.  So we need prayer for insurance on the bus.

Acts 16:7

When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

We have been trying to raise funds for Brazil since 2017, during that time we fine tuned an outreach specifically to the Chinese as well as people from all over the world through our dog sled business. With which we would present the gospel using the dogs and nature as our illustrations as we talked over a cup of cocoa after the dog sled ride. During that time we had contacted every church on the road system north of the Alaska Range and shared our vision for Brazil, as well as shared our information with those who came through our business.

In October 2019, we began traveling full time to raise our support since it was going extremely slow in Alaska and we had exhausted any possible church support in the northern half of the state. We sold our equipment, from the sales of that we used it to live off of for our first 3 months of travel on the bus and then used it to supplement our wage from Fire international after that.

We have had many divine appointments over the last 12 months and are still in contact with those we were able to serve.

In April after Covid hit God gave us a property in Hunter Arkansas and a truck which left us with $100 from our original money that we had when we left Alaska, to register the truck and fill the fuel tank.

In May Fredrick offered me a job helping him with construction in the area.  Through that we met Bartley and his family and began pouring into him. This is also the time that Becki and I began reaching out to the widows in town sharing Jesus and serving them in practical ways such as mowing their lawn, fixing their roofs or general maintenance around their house.

In August Becki’s mom came down to live with us and has become invaluable in reaching the widows since she is a widow herself.

We have been in the process of fixing up our old house so that we can have a house church here and begin serving the community in a new way. It is slow since we are paying for the remodel out of pocket as we have extra funds and we have had to replaced a lot of bad wood.

In September we have finally had a couple churches open up for us to share, and we got a notice from our bus insurance company that since our 3 year agreement with them was over that they were dropping us. Since we are no longer in Alaska we don’t qualify to be renewed so now we are searching for a company that will take a school bus RV conversion.

Now in October we have been gone from Alaska a full year, we have touched many lives and they have also touched ours, many are probably reading this newsletter. We are praying about our next step, about wintering in Hunter.  We have the opportunity to get involved in outdoor tent evangelism with one of the pastors that we met in September. It would be great experience. They are currently in the process of purchasing a tent.

It is amazing how God put us in a place for training that matches our vision for Brazil and has allowed us to begin to serve the farming community of Hunter in the same way that we want to serve the farming communities of Brazil, though with less of a language barrier.

We are excited to see what is next on the heart of God for us.

If God lays us on your heart please pray for direction for our next step, please pray for our partnership development to pick up. Most of all please pray that we can continue to share Jesus with the people around us in clairity, boldness and love so that people will hear, understand and be changed.

Thank you all for all of your prayers encouragement and support,

We really can’t do what we are doing without you, we can feel your prayers.

Thank you

Blessings in Christ

About Jesse & Becki Brattrud

It is our vision and focus to plant churches and to establish a base that can accommodate other missionaries and/ or those who are being raised up for ministry

Our plan is to attend language school and while attending language school we will explore rural Brazil, west and southwest Brazil specifically, the farming communities and small towns. Our next step would be to find the area with the most need, those little red or orange dots on the map that signify less than 2% Christian. Once we find that location then we will begin to search for a central location around the greatest need to establish a base. Once we graduate language school we want to quickly and smoothly transition to the new location, walk around the villages praying and helping anyone out that we see needs and will accept it. Then invite them and their families to our place for supper serve them Jesus. Plant a church, begin street preaching in the town, raise up leaders that are capable of reproducing Christ in others and spreading the gospel. Turn the church over to the people and establish a pastor. Oversee the local pastor and repeat. The goal will be to plant as many growing, self sustaining Christ-centered churches as by Gods grace and power that we are able. To bring blessings to the communities by Acts 3:26 “When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
