July 2020

Dear family and friends,

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).

Last month, our church was allowed to hold outdoor services with social distancing. Restaurants, hair dressers, and other places of business have reopened, but restrictions have tightened as far as wearing masks. Many of you have probably experienced the same, while others have been able to go about your lives with less restrictions. We’re not fond of wearing masks, but we did have fun making our own!

Most of you probably saw the situation in Seattle on the news (CHAZ/CHOP), as well as situations in other cities. It may feel like chaotic times, but often it’s in chaotic times that God moves. We need revival in the churches and a spiritual awakening in our country…in the world! No matter how you feel about recent events, it’s obvious that our world is dark and needs the Light of Jesus to shine forth from the Church. Please join us in praying for a mighty move of God in our world today.

As we move into and through the phases of reopening, we are getting to see more people…yay!!! The outdoor church services have felt like being at camp meetings. We have canopy-type shelters all over the church yard in case of rain and a covered stage at the front. We bring our own camp chairs and set up in family groups for worship and a message. It’s different but fun! Sometimes, we bring our own picnic to eat after church.

The Edge (youth group) recently had an outdoor worship service and games, which was a lot of fun for the kids. While regular youth services are on hold, we have been able to have occasional summer events, all outdoors. Debbie’s small group of middle school girls were able to get together recently for food and games, and they were so excited to see each other in person again. Each of our kids’ small groups were able to meet up as well. How wonderful it is to meet together in person! We need fellowship with each other.

Greg’s Uber driving is picking back up, as people are leaving their homes more often and returning to work. Please continue to pray for opportunities for sharing and praying with the people he comes into contact with. Summer months are often low for us, even with Greg’s side jobs. If you support us, we appreciate your faithful giving! If you don’t support us financially but would like to, this is a great time to begin. If you are not able to support us, please do keep us in your prayers. Donations and support can be sent through mail or online giving.

Many blessings to you all,

The Nissen family
