Dear Family and Friends, July 2020
Greetings from Ukraine! We still find ourselves under a quarantine regime here in Ukraine. Thankfully we are still allowed to gather for church! Face masks are still required in any public place, but things are slowly starting to reopen, like we are allowed to eat in restaurants. However, none of the facilities we would normally visit have reopened to us yet. That means we still haven’t seen the ladies at Greenfield in over four months now! In my last conversation with the director she said to call back in another two weeks and maybe then we can visit! I hope so! I miss them so much!
Smila: Finally, after four long months, Juliana and I took a trip to minister with our friends in Smila! It was so refreshing to see them and all that’s going on! Pastors Dennis and Oksana were able to complete more work on their home and they’ve also begun adding on a children’s room to their church building! We were there for two special services they held outside in the park. Many new people joined us and heard the Gospel! There was such a sweet presence of the Lord both days! There was wonderful worship, preaching the Word, their dance team performed, and free hot dogs and lemonade for everyone! I’m glad I was able to preach the Word of God, but I was also so happy just to enjoy the atmosphere and worship God with everyone! It’s always worth the trip there to spend time with our dear friends and encourage one another!
Maria: After the Sunday service at the park in Smila, I was talking with many people when one lady asked me to come and pray with her friend Maria. Maria was already visibly moved and crying a little. She told me her friend brought her to the service and she knew that she needed God to change her life. So we prayed together for her to receive Jesus as her Savior and tears began to pour down her face, tears of joy! Maria told me about how she had been a Jehovah’s Witness for many years and became disillusioned with God. But now she knows for certain that God is real! Hallelujah!
Women’s Breakfast: Since we were finally allowed to gather together we had our first in-person women’s breakfast since February! We had several online versions of our gatherings, but to say the least, this was much, much better! There was tasty food, a craft, a word of encouragement and lots of time for talking and prayer! We so love these times when we can gather just as women and encourage one another!
Upcoming Plans: Of course, with this degree of uncertainty in the air due to the percentage of Covid-19 cases in Ukraine, all of our plans are somewhat tentative, but we are hoping things will continue to improve! As of now we are planning to have our youth camp at the campground the first week of August. We are also beginning to plan our Women’s Conference for October 3rd. And as of next week I’m planning to start street evangelism with free soft drinks and water! Hopefully everything goes smoothly – we will be in masks and gloves with prepackaged drinks and cookies to bless anyone and everyone we can!
Youth camp – that we will be able to have camp and that the youth attending will be changed by the Lord radically!
Evangelism – for open hearts, repentance, seeds planted, healings, and the miraculous!
For the Covid-19 numbers to drop in Ukraine and for special needs homes to reopen for us!
For Church of Truth in Krivoy Rog and Church of Praise in Smila to have breakthroughs and times of refreshing.
For our team for financial provision, health, encouragement, passion, and vision!
Stirrings of the Lord: For a long time we’ve been meeting for prayer at my apartment on Mondays and one thing we often pray for is that the Holy Spirit would move freely during our Church services and that He would change hearts. We are seeing the beginnings of that and our hunger for the Lord is growing! We have had several very special services recently where God has been breaking out and moving powerfully! But beyond that, just in having conversations with individuals in our Church I’ve noticed such spiritual growth! I’m in awe! We whole-heartedly say “More Lord!”
July 5th marked my 17th year in Ukraine! What began as a three-month internship back in 2003 has turned into a lifetime already! I’m very blessed to have served so many years already in this nation and I look forward to all that God has in store! It’s my joy and honor to serve the Ukrainian people! I’m beyond thankful for all those who have partnered with me and have a heart for Ukraine too! Together we are seeing the Kingdom come to Ukraine and Jesus transform lives! Thank you so much for encouraging, supporting, and praying for me! Here’s to the future!
God Bless you! Your missionary to Ukraine,
