June/ July newsletter
“Are you returning?” We have been asked this question numerous times. The answer is a resounding, “yes!” We anticipate our return being early winter, but there are several conditions that we are monitoring to make a wise decision about when to return. Eastern Africa is where God has called us and so Tanzania very quickly became home. We long and desire to get back to our home and work that God has entrusted to us. We eagerly await for the Lords timing on this.
The timing of God has been very evident in this time for us. We crossed the border out of Kenya just before things became very difficult there. We ended up leaving Tanzania days before food shortage and difficulties began increasing quickly. We landed in the US as the national covid numbers began dropping. We were out of quarantine just days before Jonathan’s father found out that he would have to have unexpected open heart surgery. Jonathan was able to travel to be with his mom at his parents house as the doctors performed a five valve bypass. Had the timing been different in any of these situations Jonathan would not have been available to be there with his parents during this time. Leading to this we did not understand why things were playing out as they did but looking back now we can see Gods hand guiding us through it all. We find ourselves again relying on the leading of the Lord for the next steps.
We have been busy over this last month here in the US reestablishing contact with friends, family and ministry partners. While in Tanzania one of the hardest things for us was missing the friendships that we hold so dear. We have been blessed to have the ability to video chat while in Tanzania so if you would like to be able to communicate with us once we return please contact us and let us know. We can then figure out the best platforms for doing this together with you.
We have also been doing our best to be His hands and feet while we are here in the US. We have been assisting in handing out food at a local church run food bank once a week. We also have sent some support back to Tanzania to help with food that is being distributed to the locals who are truly starving in this time. If you have a moment please stop and pray for those in Tanzania right now. Food is running low and many people are in life and death situations because of this. Our heart breaks for our brothers, sisters friends and even those we have not met who do not have a way to provide food for themselves and their families.
We are currently navigating what the rest of our time here will look like as we begin looking to travel to visit and share at churches and small group settings as things begin to open back up. If you are interested in having us to your church, small group or family setting to share about our journey please make sure to reach out and contact us by sending an email to email@example.com
