Greetings, Friends! I trust that you are well and, in spite of these trying times, are allowing yourself to marvel at God’s creation in the unchanging, God ordained, cycle of seasons as we move from Spring into Summer. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Let us strive to see the present circumstances in our nation through his eyes, lest we stumble into bitterness and division. Our enemy is not flesh and blood. To borrow a quote from a sermon by Dr. David Gibbs, we have one primary responsibility in this world and that is to make the Son of God look good.
I have some encouraging news from Jebba. Due to the lessening of restrictions, most of those most adversely affected by the lockdown are once again able to earn their daily bread, so the need to supplement the feeding of their families has greatly reduced. Schools, however, remain closed, so we will continue to help our teachers.
A great breakthrough has happened concerning the publishing of our reading series. After calculating what has already been donated and what has been promised, a wonderful church voted to complete the funding! God is so very good! I am eager to put feet into this vision and run with it until many, currently inadequate schools, are equipped to teach all of Jebba’s children to become independent readers. What more precious gift can we give someone than the ability to open God’s Word and immerse themselves in it? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Thank you to all of my supporting churches and independent partners, with special thanks for this project going to Upward Christian Fellowship. Through you all, God is meeting every need!
In a video put together by my host to express appreciation for the gift, Oseni, the lead teacher in Fangun, reminded me of just how much God has done through all who have supported the work in that isolated, community. He said that, before we came in, that barely 70 students were attending the neglected school. After building classrooms and providing seating, educational materials, teachers and coaching, there are now over 200 children attending school! Thank You!
In saving the best for last, while Nigerian Airports currently remain closed, Delta has begun scheduling flights for July and I have purchased a ticket for July 30th! Please be in prayer for that flight, as we need the airports to be receiving flights by then! As always, thank you for your faithfulness in prayer , words of encouragement, and finances. I am so grateful to God for you.
No new pics, but if you would like me to forward you that video viaFacebook Messenger, let me know.
God Bless You as We Reach Nigeria Together,
