Dear Family & Friends, July 2020
Outreaches to help those in Need during this crisis
While talking to Carmen, our landlord, we started discussing the tremendous need in all of Mexico. She proceeded to tell me that she and her daughter Karina were bringing food to a mainly poor elderly community three times a week. The people were lining up at 11 a.m. to make sure that they received a meal that day. Many had not eaten even one meal a day. Carmen makes a very large pan of food and there are others that come to help feed the people. Sadly many days there is not enough food to go around to all those who need a meal. In the past couple of weeks I was able to bring food to help. Sadly the one day that Carmen, Karina and I were not able to go they were only able to feed ½ of the people waiting in line. So there were about 20+ families that went without food that day. They are taking a 2 week break from feeding due to the increased cases of COVID-19 in that area. But today Friday June 19th we are going to be giving away food bags that include things such as rice, beans, oil, pasta, lentils, tuna, and salt. This month we have made around 120 bags of food to pass out to those in need. Thank you all for making that possible.
God is opening up doors for us to reach out to those who are hungry and hurting. Please keep us in prayer as we continue to minister in various ways as God directs us.
Quarantine Update: We are still under quarantine restrictions until the end of June as of right now. They are still asking people to stay home as much as possible. But they are cutting back a little on the restrictions.
When I finished making up the food bags I began to move things around to have more space. Under the package of 30 bags of rice was this scorpion. I think he was under the bag since Saturday. It probably came from the grocery store. I was sitting on the floor next to this bag when I prepared the bags of food. I am so thankful that it didn’t come out and sting me. He was very aggressive and full of energy.
Thank you all so very much for all your prayers and faithful support. If you don’t currently support what we are doing here in Mexico and you would like to partner with us with a monthly gift or one time offering.
