Jesus said “Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.””
John 12:31-32 NIV
We are beginning to enter some real interesting times, and God has really been opening up doors for us. I have began to work with the leader of the local Pentecostal church in town regularly as he is doing carpentry all over the area, I have had the opportunity to meet a young Christian named Bartley, he became sold out for Jesus in 2018, he left a lucrative career in business and literally gave it all up to serve Jesus. I have had the oppertunity to speak into his life, encourage him in his walk, and answer a few questions that he had. I really enjoy him and his passion for Jesus.
We have also had the oppertunity to meet the pastor at the Methodist church in town, and have been attending there for the last few weeks, churches here have opened to ten family groups or less, and they want you to wear a face mask as well. Tom Machem is the pastors name, though he says he is just a Christian worker and not a pastor, he has been leading the church in Hunter for nearly 5 years I believe. Tom just opened up his pulpit to me if I feel God has given me a message for the congregation.
The baptist church that I mentioned last month has been purchased by the Mayer of Hunter and I am helping Fredric, the leader of the Pentecostal church, fix it up, the Mayer has mentioned turning the old church into a museum.
We have had several open doors with the towns people as well, we have built a roof for our neighbor, Betty, and she was nearly in tears when we did not charge her for the work and told her that we wanted to show her the love of Jesus in a practical way, and was in tears when our four year old, Rhema, prayed for her. She mentions that nearly every time we see her.
Another widow lady in town, has contacted us to help her with her house as well as her yard to dig drainage ditches. She is a neat lady as well, and is full of history and in need of company to share it with.
We have visited another Betty in town, she is the one that we fixed her lawnmower tire on, she has not been in a church in 21 years, but really knows her bible, she was nearly in tears when we visited her.
There are many other stories we could share, from worship in walmart during a tornado, to meeting family of other FIRE International missionaries in a local town, to sharing Jesus with a local saw mill owner, to God providing a lawn mower, rototiller, and bedroom set with 3 wooden dressers, and two recliners for the house. We have built a good relation with Larry, who sold us the furnature for next to nothing, he is hard to the Gospel, but will listen out of respect. All these people have a story and need for encouragement and for Jesus to move in their lives. Jesus has given us many new friends and a much longer prayer list. There is so much more we could mention.
It is amazing how God will put you in a place to prepare you for what he is calling you to. We are in a location where the climate at least in summer is near identical to Brazils summer in Minas Gearis, we are in a farming community where the town is dying and the people are in need of Jesus. And we are helping the people, serving them any way that we can, even with the limited lock down that is still going on here. We are beginning to work with the local church leadership that is in the town, and we are seeing hearts beginning to heal.
It is a very exciting time and we plan to make the most of where God has us for as long as He has us here.
Again Jesus said “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.””
John 12:32 NIV
Our job is to lift up Jesus and he will draw all people to himself, this is the season of Pentecost, and therefore the season of harvest, we need only to lift up Jesus, and in the same way as Paul proclaimed to the corinthians, preach Christ and him crucified. Who he is and what he has done for them, us, you.
If God lays us on your hearts this month, please pray that we will have more oppertunity to share Jesus boldly, clearly, and in love so that others will hear, understand, and be changed. Please pray for divine appointments, and for Gods provision in all that he is calling us to, also pray that churches will begin to open up and begin to receive missionaries again.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support, we truly can’t do what we do without you
Blessing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

About Jesse & Becki Brattrud
It is our vision and focus to plant churches and to establish a base that can accommodate other missionaries and/ or those who are being raised up for ministry
Our plan is to attend language school and while attending language school we will explore rural Brazil, west and southwest Brazil specifically, the farming communities and small towns. Our next step would be to find the area with the most need, those little red or orange dots on the map that signify less than 2% Christian. Once we find that location then we will begin to search for a central location around the greatest need to establish a base. Once we graduate language school we want to quickly and smoothly transition to the new location, walk around the villages praying and helping anyone out that we see needs and will accept it. Then invite them and their families to our place for supper serve them Jesus. Plant a church, begin street preaching in the town, raise up leaders that are capable of reproducing Christ in others and spreading the gospel. Turn the church over to the people and establish a pastor. Oversee the local pastor and repeat. The goal will be to plant as many growing, self sustaining Christ-centered churches as by Gods grace and power that we are able. To bring blessings to the communities by Acts 3:26 “When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
