Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, friends and family! I pray you all had a wonderful holiday season!
So much has happened since my last regular letter in November! I’ll try my best to give you a good snapshot of the main highlights of the last few months here in this letter.
Beth and I had a fantastic 7-week trip to the States. It was our first time to return to the States for the purpose of itinerating in SIX YEARS! We have both been back a few times to visit family, attend a conference, or something of that nature…and we have seen some of you on those trips…but we haven’t returned for this much time just to itinerate in six years. We had such a WONDERFUL time with so many of you – revisiting friends and supporters that we haven’t seen in years, making new friends and connections, and we were both also blessed to reconnect with some friends from long ago that we haven’t seen in years. What a great time we had! Great big thanks to those of you who hosted us, fed us, prayed over us, encouraged us, loved on us, and on and on…we love you!
Upon arrival back in the Philippines, we had many things to do, one of them being to receive our new vehicle for the Hope House! Yes, it is finally here!!! After NINE months of waiting, we finally have that vehicle that so many of you helped us purchase! It had to come from out of the country, then it was delayed in customs …then it had to be “assembled”, meaning that the back covering and benches had to be installed, then it had to be shipped to the big island down south, and THEN it was finally ready to be driven down to Samal by our friend here in the Philippines. Things here sometimes take much longer than we expect! However, we are super thankful and happy to have the vehicle. We have already taken several outings in it, and the girls love it.
For the holidays, we gave the girls a two-week break from school and focused in on spending time with them and having fun. They took a trip to the pool, made cookies and gave them out to neighbors (along with Christmas caroling, of course), they had a slumber party at our house, and they had movie days, games, and several other fun activities. They also participated in the HFAC Christmas party here at the property where we had a talent show. The girls did a dance that they had been practicing for a while, and they won 1st place! With their prize money, they got to go shopping and buy whatever they wanted…such fun!
We are so blessed to be able to be here with these girls for the holidays. Sometimes the holidays are painful for them, but the Lord is faithful to help them through it, and we’re glad to be a part of it.
I’m so happy to announce that Beth and I were able to purchase a new vehicle! While we were gone to the States, Beth’s old car broke down again. The engine is completely dead and needs to be rebuilt. It won’t run at all. Because of where we live, we really need a solid, 4×4 vehicle. While in the US, Beth and I were able to raise a portion of the funds that we need for a new car, but we are still in need of some additional funds to pay for the car in full. We really want to pay this off right away. If you would like to help, please mark your donation, “Harden – Vehicle”.
Since it’s January, I’d like to do some house cleaning! If your mailing address or e-mail address has changed, would you be willing to inform me so that I can have your correct information on file? Also, if you would like to change how you receive my newsletter (snail mail or e-mail), please let me know! You can message me on Facebook or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prayer and praise:
Thank you so much for your prayers and support! It means so much to me! As you join with us in prayer, you become a part of the team, and you share in the victories together with us! Here are some of our needs and praise reports….
