Winter seems to come quickly here in frigid Northwest Iowa, we’ve already had snow flurries & cold temperatures. With November almost upon us it’s hard to believe we’re entering into the Holiday season once again! Another year almost over & we have just gotten used to the idea of it being 2019!
The month of October always keeps us on our toes here at the ATLAS office as we all prepare for our annual banquet/fundraiser. During this special evening, we as ATLAS staff, get to “brag” about the tremendous things God has done over the past year. And our “stars” (clients) have an opportunity to share their stories/testimonies in front of the audience, so they can put names & faces to those whom we write about in our newsletters. If you happened to be in the area for this event we thank you for joining us! Sometimes, as we’ve written about before, the ministry we do is a constant up & down, some succeed, others fail over & over again, but on this night we’re again, always encouraged, when we can tangibly see & hear just how amazing our God is that we serve! We look forward to sharing more in our year end newsletter that will highlight more of the personal testimonies of some of our clients as well as the impact we’ve been making in the immediate community & beyond!
In our last newsletter we told you a story about a man we called Paul. Paul had been excited about what the Lord was doing in his life, especially after praying for his friend and seeing the Lord heal her eyes. He has continued growing in his relationship with the Lord. He recently told David that he wanted to get serious about studying the bible, so he asked if he could meet with him regularly to learn from David & to ask questions. We are honored to be part of a group of amazing men who are discipling this man to truly follow after Jesus! He was one of our “stars” whom we asked to share his testimony at our banquet. He willingly shared what his life was like before he came to know Jesus, in his own words he said it was full of “DEATH, CHAOS, AND DESTRUCTION.” But now, his life has been made new, & he is full of life!
On another note, we’ve become acquainted with a woman through various circumstance, none of which have been in good situations. She’s had lots of hardships in her life, & seemingly continues to make the wrong choices. But God has begun working on her heart & is using ATLAS to make that happen. She came into our office one day recently & while talking with David & our female staff mentor, David received a word of knowledge & shared it with her. Her heart began to melt, because she wondered, how could he have known those things about me? She knew there was a creator God, but she didn’t know that this God too wanted to be her all in all & loved her completely, just for who she was. That day she gave her life to the Lord!! We are excited that a local body of believers has taken her under their wings & will be walking on this newfound journey with her!

As we near the end of the year, we’re struck with the fact that our youngest is about to be one year old! Time goes by even faster when you have a second child. J Little Evie continues to bring so much joy to our lives! Her personality is beginning to show (quite the feisty one!) along with new teeth & new found independence (i.e. always scootin away from us when we try to change her!) She began to crawl at about 8 months of age & is already showing signs of wanting to walk, so who knows, maybe by her 1 year birthday she’ll be walking?!
We were thrilled with the recent visit from David’s dad who currently lives in the Philippines. Because of the great distance from one another we don’t get the opportunity to see each other a lot! The last time we saw him was just a few weeks before Rylie was born. We loved that he got to meet both of his granddaughters for the first time!
We pray you all enjoy the upcoming holiday season!
