Dear Friends and Family, August 2019
Greetings from Krivoy Rog! After weeks of hard work and preparation, our 6th annual Pure Heart Camp is now over! What an incredible week it was! There were 60 campers, aged 14-25, and 30 staff volunteers. Thanks to their hard work, our week went smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time!
Camp Testimonies: The theme for the week was our calling and identity. I believe everyone at camp was touched by the Lord! Many heard Him speak to them personally for the first time! One of the campers was so excited to tell us that he heard God speak to him and that God told him just how much He loved him! It was so precious! On Wednesday night I gave a message on repentance, freedom, and the Holy Spirit. Many campers prayed for repentance! Praise God! Then seven of them were baptized in the Holy Spirit! It was so awesome! I was reminded of the simplicity of the Gospel while praying with one team that contained most of our boys with learning disabilities. At first I questioned how it would go, but for them it was so easy to receive from Father God! We all stood there praying and crying, it was an unforgettable time. On Thursday we did water baptisms and twenty-one of the campers were baptized! It was powerful! Several of them came up out of the water rejoicing and shouting! It was a holy moment! During baptisms I saw Diane, one of our girls, keep getting in and out of the line before she finally came down into the water. She told me she was nervous because she realized that getting baptized in water is a serious decision and she wanted to be sure she was ready. In the end Diane decided it’s time for true change and to follow Jesus with her whole heart – Hallelujah!
More Testimonies from Camp: For me personally, it was the first time I actually stayed and slept at camp thanks to some new allergy medicine! Camp is always in the middle of ragweed season, but I made it through and was even able to breathe most of the time! I’m so glad I was able to be there because there were those priceless moments of deep conversation with the campers that made every sacrifice worthwhile! I had a few conversations with several of the boys who I know have struggled with even believing in God at all, mainly because of the harshness they experienced growing up in the orphanage system. But I was able to talk with them about the reality of who Father is and His love for them. For one of the boys I’ll call Daniel, it was the first time he admitted that God is real and that he believes in Him. For me that’s a huge step in Daniel’s life – please pray for God to bring about a complete change in his heart! For a few of our other campers, it was a week without their addictions (alcohol, meth, and marijuana); it was a much needed break for those few to remember what life is actually like again. One of those boys, I will call Robert, has struggled for so long and he was really touched by God’s presence at camp. Robert decided it’s time for change! We are helping him walk out the new found freedom in his life! Please continue to pray for Robert’s complete freedom!
Camp Fun: Of course it wouldn’t be camp without lots of fun too! We had all kinds of silly games – like the living caterpillar game where four campers had to work together to walk inside a plastic tarp to the finish line. There was lots of time spent swimming in the river, playing volleyball and soccer, making crafts, fun with water balloons, capture the flag, and dancing along to Just Dance songs on the big screen. Every morning always started with exercises to a song called “Monkey” – it was the most intense morning exercises I’ve ever seen, but everyone loved it! And we all had a blast on color day where we threw powered color at one another!
Pure Heart Camp was wonderful! Thanks for praying for this week – we felt the prayers! There is something that is just so special about being away at camp, out of the city, off of our cell phones, in nature, having fun, and seeking Jesus together! During the week it’s hard to tell all that happened, but seeds were planted, fruit was gathered, campers received physical and emotional healing, were set free, baptized in water, baptized in the Holy Spirit, and received salvation! God is good!
-Pray for the campers now that camp is over. That we would see the fruit in their lives and lasting change! Specifically pray for Daniel, Robert, and Diane!
-Pray for our Women’s Conference coming up on October 5th – that God would move mightily!
-Pray for the miraculous, healing, salvation and freedom to be present during our outreaches.
-Pray for the dormitory students as they return to their studies and our dorm meetings begin once again. Pray for new students to attend and for open hearts!
-Pray for myself and our team for health, refreshing, safety, and breakthroughs!
I am daily reminded of you and your generosity and the support of the ministry and myself! Your prayers are invaluable! Because we all pray for Ukraine, God is moving here! You incredibly encourage me! Thank you so much! God bless you!
