Dear Family and Friends,
Великий привіт з України! (A big hello from Ukraine!) The world is blooming around me and the tulips are out in full force! I relish the signs of spring! To see life bursting forth again from dead ground always makes my heart rejoice as I’m constantly reminded of Jesus who can bring forth life from the dead – in any situation! He’s always good!
Ukrainian Presidential Elections: On election day, back on March 31st, there were 39 candidates on the ballot and not any one candidate received the required 50% of the vote to outright win the elections, so there is a runoff election being held on April 21st. It will be between the top two candidates – an actor from my hometown of Krivoy Rog, or the current president. By the time you read this, we should hopefully have the results! Thank you for praying with me for God to have His way with these elections and also pray that peace comes to Ukraine!
Greenfield: Ten of the ladies from Greenfield had a new experience this past month as I was able to get them tickets to see a 3D cartoon at the movie theater! They were so excited! None of them had ever seen a 3D movie before and they were talking about it for days! I’m always encouraged by my visits with these ladies and their loving hearts! They are always showing their love and gratitude towards us in different ways. Some ladies smother me with hugs and kisses on the check, some want to hold my hand, and others still just want a few minutes of conversation with me. One of the ladies almost always gives me an old newspaper every week. She wraps it up carefully in a small plastic bag and has it ready for me, because she simply wants to give me a gift and these newspapers are treasures to her! The last time I was there, one of the nurses let me know that as soon as the ladies see my car pull into the driveway you can hear the excitement in the halls as they all eagerly make their way out to greet us. It’s clear to me by their actions that they are experiencing the Father’s love that we share with them every week and I pray it continues to transform their lives.
Nastia’s Testimony: Recently our team went to visit the Mom’s dorm. We had a fun time eating pizza, playing games, and singing songs about Jesus. I was so surprised to see Nastia there with her little sister, she’s an eight-year-old girl that I hadn’t seen in years because her family moved to another part of the city. I so loved catching up with her and hearing about her Mom and other siblings. We took several photos and promised we’d see each other again soon. Then about two hours after just having seen Nastia I received word that she’d been hit by a car and was in the ICU! We all were in shock and began to pray! At first she was unconscious for over 24 hours and we rejoiced when she woke up! Nastia suffered some brain trauma, a broken nose, and some more bruising. Miraculously, now, just two-and-a-half weeks later she’s already back in school! I truly call that a miracle! Praise God! Thank you to all who prayed for Nastia and her family!
Kid’s TB Hospital: There are so many new faces now at the hospital, and that’s a good thing! It means that most of the kids we knew from last year have already been released and are back to normal life again! On my last visit, it seemed like everyone just wanted hugs, so I stood there for a long time taking turns hugging each of the kids! It’s a joy to bring them a little bit of happiness! I love the photo below where all the kids are pretending to sleep on the floor, it’s a little game we play with them that involves an alarm clock and a lullaby. When it’s time for them to sleep in the game they just collapse to the floor wherever they are! It’s so cute!
Men’s Home: God is answering prayers! A new director was recently placed in charge of the home for men with special needs and what a change it’s already making! This director is a Christian and you can tell he has a sincere love for these guys! The atmosphere is already changing! There are classrooms and activities for the men like they never had in the past. I can’t wait to see all the changes that will happen now! God is good!
Dorms: Ministry at the dormitories continues to go great! Recently at church we had several new students from one of the dorms come for the first time! They live in a dorm that is quite a long ways away from church, so it was very encouraging to see them! We know Father God is touching their lives as we continue to invest our time in them and we continue to believe for many changed lives!
