Dear Family and Friends,
I will praise the Lord at all times! “Восславлю Господа во всякое время, хвала Ему всегда на устах моих.” Псалтирь 33: 2 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will continually be in my mouth.” Psalms 34:1 (This is the same verse – just Russian and English versions of the Bible don’t number their Psalms in the same way.) This verse is one of my favorites because it’s how I choose to live my life – with the Lord’s praise on my mouth at all times. Looking for ways to give God glory throughout the day is a simple way to keep your mind focused on Him and also fills your heart with joy!
У Ног Царя! At the Feet of the King! Our long-awaited women’s conference happened on October 6th and we had an absolutely amazing time! Thank you so much for praying! Every one of the 77 women who attended were touched by the Lord Jesus as His presence marked the entire day. I was surprised to meet women from so many different churches! Three ladies simply came because they saw our invitation on Facebook. Another young woman came who had no connection to anyone in attendance at all – it was simply the Lord! This young woman told me it was her first time to attend a Christian conference, and she said wants to believe but was trying to find the truth – but after the day was over she told me she now knows that God truly is real! We had some wonderful times of worship and all three messages fit right together, without any of us speakers talking to one another beforehand! Everything was Lord ordained! My message was on how at the feet of the King – there is no condemnation and no fear! He frees us from our past life and sets us on a path of victory! I used a Barbie doll during my message – Barbie had to decide if she was going to be controlled by all the pressure and problems in her life, or if she would choose to be light in the darkness and walk in triumph. At the end of the conference – several of the ladies were asking if they could take Barbie home with them to remind them to live a life of triumph in Jesus! Pastor Oksana from Smila was another speaker along with our friend Mary Hedlund from Minnesota; I was so encouraged by both of their messages. At the end we had a very precious moment with the Lord as a stillness fell over the room and everyone just sat and enjoyed the Lord together. It was such a sweet presence, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place! Afterwards we were so encouraged to hear all the testimonies of how the Lord had spoken to so many. Our goal was to minister to the ladies spiritually, emotionally, and physically; and we did just that with spiritual words, a beautiful conference center, and an amazing lunch. All we heard was how much everyone loved their day and they can’t wait until the next time we’ll have a conference. We plan to do it all again next year!
A Special Visitor: This past month I had a special visitor, my Dad! I enjoyed showing him what life is like here now and how it’s changed since the last time he visited thirteen years ago. He enjoyed his time and my team and friends we were all happy to meet my Dad too! I put him to work while he was here – we visited Pastors Dennis and Oksana in Smila, went to the women’s and men’s homes, visited the refugee camp, as well as several dorms. Beyond that I was able to show him some of Kiev and Dnipro – we had a great time!
Back to the Dormitories: Ministry to the college-aged students has begun once again as we are back in the dorms. At dorm #86 we were able to remodel the room that was given to us to use – it’s so nice now the students just love hanging out in there with us – as it’s such a different atmosphere than the rest of the dorm. We’ve already had several new students come to church which is very encouraging! There are so many new faces this year, I’m excited to have the chance to share Jesus with them.
Coffee & Tea Evangelism: Now that the fall weather is upon us, we’ve given up the lemonade and turned to handing out hot tea and coffee! People are so blessed by this small act of kindness because when it’s cold out, you’re always happy to find anything to warm you up! This past time I spoke for awhile with a man who told me that many years ago he went to church but life got too hard and he quit going, but after talking and praying with me he was reminded that God hasn’t left him nor has He given up on him. The most exciting encounter was with one girl named Anya. I saw her walk by earlier and then she finally came back for some tea. Anya was staring at me and finally asked, in English of all things, “Are you Leann?” I was surprised! Anya told me she used to go to our kid’s camp that we held in my neighborhood, Camp of Rock, about 12 years ago. She remembered the camp theme and even lessons we taught her! She was so excited to see us again, she had no idea we were still here since she moved to another neighborhood. Now that Anya has found us again she’s interested in coming to our church and learning more about what all we do here in Krivoy Rog! God is good! It’s so encouraging to hear that some of my neighborhood kids did grow up and remembered what we taught them all those years ago!
