The fair is over and autumn has begun. The birch are turning yellow and the valleys and mountain sides are turning red. We just had our first 35 degree night so the first frost and snow are only days away. It is a time of change and often seen as a time of maturity before the death of winter. Here in Alaska it truly is our time of preparations. Caribou and moose season are underway and many will be filling their freezer with fresh meat, and as the trails stiffen up with the coming freezing temperatures many will be filling their woodshed with the dry dead birch or spruce trees that are collected before the snow will get too deep.
For us this is the season when we come alive. Yes we have our winter preparations to accomplish. To fill our fuel tank, pick up and reorganize the property, and to begin training our huskies for tourist season. Tourist season is the six month period from November to April when people come from all over the world to experience Alaska’s Aurora Borealis (northern lights) and a dogsled adventure. It is the time when we thrive in sharing Jesus with the nations. Last year alone we had over a 1000 people come through our place and over 900 of these people heard about Jesus, many for the first time.
We will have the opportunity to share our vision for Brazil in two churches in September and are very excited that God is beginning to open doors for us. Lord willing we will find momentum in this and establish a financial base that will compliment the much appreciated growing prayer base that we are currently developing.
As promised about our fair outreach. We rented a space at the Tananna Valley State fair in Fairbanks, Ak. The purpose was for partnership development with the main focus of sharing the love of Jesus in a practical way. We gave out English and Spanish Bibles, the dvd “The Atheist Delusion”, kids books, as well as our literature of our vision for Brazil and our FI contact information. The biggest draw to the booth was the Jesus Loves You bean bag toss. The object of the game was to throw 2 out of 3 bags in to any combination of holes to win a fidget spinner. Anyone who tries automatically gets a super ball. The catch was that you have to ask any spiritual question that you wondered about, and you can try as many times as you have questions to win a spinner. So needless to say this led into many great conversations with children and adults.
Some of the first people to come to our booth were a couple of teenage young men, they wanted to play the bean bag toss. Their question they asked was “How can I get to heaven?” I proceeded to share the Ten Commandments with them and as I went through them asked if they ever broke each commandment. Each time the response was yes. When asked if they were judged on this standard would they go to heaven or hell, they responded “hell” with a lowered head. By this time their complexion was pale white. I then had the privilege to continue to tell them about Jesus and His sacrifice for us. Color returned to their faces as I explained salvation to them and how to know if you are truly saved or not from first John. There was a German gentleman who entered our booth an atheist and after about 45 minuets left a searching theist, he took our information, An Atheist Delusion dvd, and a Bible, promising that he would watch the dvd and read his new Bible. Another encounter was with a young lady named Persephone. As soon as she heard that she was loved and was created intentionally for a purpose she was all ears and nearly in tears for the gospel. She said that she wanted Jesus. We gave her our information so that she can contact us, a dvd and a New Testament as well. There were literally 100’s of people that came to play the game and when they had their questions answered responded “Wow, that actually makes sense!” It is a cool thing to see someone’s countenance change to joy when they, realize perhaps for the first time, the love that Jesus has for them. God is so good! All the time!
Please pray that we can bring the gospel with boldness, clarity and the love that others can receive. Pray that God brings the right people at the right time to purchase our business. And Please pray for our partnership development to gain momentum.
Our monthly partnership needs are:
- 25 people to give $100 per month
- 25 people to give $75 per month
- 40 people to give $50 per month
- 80 people to give $25 per month
If we attain these goals plus any one time gifts then Lord willing we will have the funds raised for language school, a vehicle and plain tickets for six people within a year as well as meet all our over seas monthly missionary expenses.
Thank you Blessings in Christ
