Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Fall! Summer is officially over, the temps are just starting to cool off and all the students are back to school. Very soon our dormitory ministry will start again!
“Pure Heart” Youth Camp: Our church held it’s annual youth camp this past month. We had fifty-five campers, aged 13-24, and 22 workers – everyone had a wonderful time! Due to my ragweed allergies, I only visited the camp on two different days but it was a joy to be there with the students. The days were filled with Bible lessons, nightly service, games, swimming, and lots of food! The two things that were most memorable to the campers was all the tasty food and the night services. I preached one of the nights at camp and it was a very special and holy moment. I’d actually forgotten all of my preaching notes I’d prepared back in the city, but God had it all planned out. I shared about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and what it meant for our lives. The presence of the Holy Spirit was intense and all the campers were greatly impacted as many tears of repentance were shed that night. It was a turning point for many students lives. On the next day twelve of them were baptized in water! Praise God! I believe this was more than just a fun week at camp but truly a time when many of them encountered Jesus!
Lemonade Evangelism: We said farewell to our hot summer days with one more lemonade evangelistic outreach – next time we will have to give out hot tea instead! Doing evangelistic outreach is really one of my favorite things to do, I just love talking with people, sharing about Jesus, and praying with them. In all we gave away 150 glasses of lemonade before the rain hit! These 150 glasses were filled with more than just lemonade they were filled with hope, peace, love, and joy! Little by little the people in our community are beginning to see who God really is! It’s my honor to be part of that! My prayer is that the Lord continues to speak to each person we met and that their lives will be transformed!
Children’s TB Hospital: Our team recently visited the kids several times in the TB hospital. Those children were so happy to see us because they don’t have many visitors. Even though most of the kids come from families, they are unable to visit them often. One of the girls there right now, Anya, I met this spring at the hospital where they bring abandoned children. I showed her pictures on the phone and she was surprised to see the photos of us together! Whenever we go, we make sure to pray for all the kids as well as teach them Bible lessons. It’s always a fun time and I’m so glad to see their faces light up with joy!
Greenfield Women’s Home: I was so happy to see my ladies again! It’d been just a few weeks since I was there the last time (because of the crazy summer schedule), but I’d truly missed them! They are my joy! I’ve been purposefully teaching them lessons on Father God’s faithfulness and goodness. Every Bible lesson, I always emphasize how God is always with us and never leaves us! I want them to grasp how much He loves them. Some of the ladies understand this truth already, but there are others who need to hear it again and again. The more I share and pray with them, the more I see them start to believe that God is their loving Father who is always with them! That’s what it’s all about, bringing hope and love to those in need!
- Pray for our Women’s Conference on October 6th! We’re believing God for great things!
- Pray for all the students who attended Pure Heart camp that they would walk out their new found faith in Jesus!
- Pray for evangelistic outreach – that people’s heart would be open to hear the Gospel.
- Pray for awakening and outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Ukraine!
- Pray for strength, grace, wisdom, safety, and health for myself and my team.
- Pray for my new FIRE intern Danielle, that her 3-month internship would be wonderful!
A Dream Fulfilled: At the end of August, Amanda and I took a trip to the island of Crete in Greece. Way back in 2007 we had decided that we would take a girl’s trip to Greece, but, due to unforeseen circumstances, it just never worked out! The trip was pushed off and I just dreamed about it for many years. Amazingly, this year, it all came together and we spent a week enjoying Crete. What a beautiful country filled with welcoming people, beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, breathtaking landscape, and amazingly tasty food. It truly was a dream come true!
Thank you so much for your faithful support and prayers! Please let me know your prayer requests as well so I can join you in prayer!
Blessings, Your missionary,
