We have doubled in size!
No, not our waist size! Though we’re cautious of that now that we’re in America. (Yum.)
FIRE International Asia doubled in size! In July we gained three new missionaries, which takes our total missionary units from three to six.
Angelita is our first FIRE School graduate to sign up. She will move to Vietnam later this month. Please pray for her protection and for the Vietnamese people!
Also FIRE School graduates, Meljun and Alberto will be doing church planting work in two parts of the rural mountains of our island, Mindanao.
It’s SO fulfilling to see FI Asia missionaries working in these unreached regions!
On my first missions trip to the Philippines in 2005, I watched the sun go down over the terrain of Mindanao. As the shadows fell over the mountains and darkness overtook the forest, I began to see little flickers of flames across each mountainside. One single flame was a family or community preparing for their evening meal, representing just one of the many rugged areas of Mindanao visible to me. But I knew there were hundreds, thousands more like it.
“Who will go to these mountains to reach them?” I asked the Lord, as my heart was pulled by the need of the unreached. In that moment, the missionary call of God to the Philippines resounded.
While it is unsafe and unwise for my family to live in these remote places, the Lord is using us to train and send Filipinos who are willing to go and who will be much more proficient and fruitful than I could ever be.
Thank you for praying for and sending us so we can send others beyond where we can reach!
And thank you for hosting, feeding, and loving us! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
