Greetings from Ukraine! Summer has started with a bang! This past month was amazing and busy – a visit from friends, lots of ministry, and a dream fulfilled!
Evangelism – A Dream Fulfilled: For the past six-months I’ve been dreaming and praying about creative evangelistic outreaches and one of the ideas I had was to hand out free lemonade on a hot summers day. I bought cups and made stickers with information about our church and a simple message “You are not alone!” I’m so excited to say our first lemonade evangelism has happened! We had a great time and I was surprised to see how many people from Church volunteered to help as well! We set up our homemade lemonade stand near a busy market area and we ended up giving away 175 cups of lemonade! Everyone was so surprised and blessed to receive something for free – and something that tasted good as well! Many could not understand why we wouldn’t sell something of such high quality, but we simply said Jesus freely loved us and we want to show our community some love as well. Many people wanted to receive prayer and I also had the opportunity to have good conversations about Jesus with quite a few people too. One precious Babushka was so touched by our kindness that she insisted on paying for our lemonade with a kiss on my cheek! So sweet! I believe we will see the fruit of this ministry as people were touched by Father’s love and kindness. A simple gesture of nice ice cold lemonade on a hot day opens the door for the Gospel to be preached! I’m already excited to handout lemonade again and see what other creative ways we can reach our community!
A Visit from Home: My dear friends and neighbors, Evan and Annette Bystrom, came all the way from Wisconsin to visit me. I so enjoyed showing them my life and ministry here. Their visit to me was just a breathe of fresh air. They truly loved my city of Krivoy Rog, and that’s something you rarely hear anyone say. But they found the beauty in my industrial city, and after spending almost two weeks with them, their view of my Krivoy Rog rubbed off on me and I began to see the city in a new way again! I was able to show them the best of our city and they also witnessed some of the more difficult places like the home for disabled men and the abandoned children at the hospital. It was hard to send them back to Wisconsin, but I was so glad they were able to visit me!
Smila’s Thirteenth Birthday: I joined Pastors Dennis and Oksana for a two-day celebration of the Church’s birthday! It’s hard to believe the church has been there that long already, as I remember back to the days when I was just helping them get their church planted. Time flies! Now they have their own building and a beautiful new stage and they average around 150 people for services. It’s exciting to see their growth and what the Lord has prepared for their future! I’m so glad to be part of what God is doing in Smila and to know such wonderful people!
Women’s Breakfast: Our women’s ministry at Church of Truth keeps growing and now we’ve been holding regular women’s breakfasts. It’s been a great time for the Moms in our church to have a morning off and be ministered too and we are glad to do it! We also have our first women’s conference coming up on August 4th! The title of our conference is “At the feet of Jesus.” We are so looking forward to it – please pray that the ladies who attend will hear from the Lord during the conference!
Greenfield: It wouldn’t be a newsletter without at least a few photos from the women’s home. The ladies are waiting all week-long for us to come, as they have so few visitors and the staff really enjoy the help too! Most of the ladies still call me Natasha. Years ago when we visited the first time, we were introducing ourselves and Pastor Max was jokingly told them my name was Natasha, and it’s something they’ve never forgotten. So now I’m stuck, no matter how many times I remind them my name is Leann, they still call me Natasha. It’s really not important, they know my face, love me, and know that I love them!
- For upcoming Summer camps in July and August, that children and teens would hear the Gospel and receive Jesus as Savior as well as find freedom and healing!
- For the Women’s conference on August 4th, that many will come and receive. Also that the speakers (including me) will be flowing in the anointing.
- For Smila Church, that they would continue to grow and flourish; and that more leaders would be raised up.
- For Church of Truth that we see more breakthroughs and greater hunger and for the Lord!
- For more opportunities to do evangelistic outreach and that these time would be marked by the power of the Holy Spirit!
- For safety, protection, health and refreshing for our team! (Specifically for Myself, Juliana, Amanda, Alona, and Pastor Max)
God Bless you! Thank you for your faithful prayers and support! You are such a huge blessing to me!
