Making friends…

We have been in one place long enough that friendships are developing. I was invited to join a monthly minister’s mentor group. It is a great group of guys. I am the second oldest. The pastor leading it is in his 50s and wants to help other ministers navigate the issues of pastoring and serving congregations. This led to me asking a couple of college guys to share a time of mentoring once a week.  They are lifeguards at the local YMCA where we work out.

 Bonfire…

We are in spring prep for the building and had to gather up limbs from around the facility. We had 2 pick-up beds full of limbs. Stephanie had a brilliant idea to have a campfire and hotdog roast…with messy, sticky s’mores! We invited the families currently living here, including 9 kids and a few adults.

Spring cleaning…

We are 2 weeks away from the first real rental of the building this spring. We started with the toilets in the entire building, 30 toilets and 6 urinals. This monumental day included my cousin, Chandler, who got stranded in Marion when his truck broke down and needed repairs. Together we tackled all the broken units and got everything working. After his departure we finished sorting all the cleaning supplies and made lists of what we needed. In a 30,000 sq. ft. building there is much to accomplish. Next is the kitchen and dining area. I repaired some games available in the game room. I used a broken fly swatter to repair an air hockey table.

Outside…

There are 2 outside areas to keep mowed; the small RV park we built a couple years ago, and grass around the main building. I started by repairing the zero-turn mower. I wanted a second push mower to keep at the building, and one was donated by a workout buddy at the YMCA. I still need to tune the weed-eaters and chainsaw.

Prayer…

– Our family – my (Brian’s) dad has passed away April 11th.

Patience and wisdom to make good decisions in spring prep

Only $6,500 to go to pay off our truck!

 Mentoring a couple college guys

I am considering taking some online classes to better serve others. I am not sure which way to go in class selection.
