A nation of over one billion people and Christianity at a rate of only 6%, India is definitely still in need of the gospel. I was blessed to visit the nation for 11 days last month. I ministered in two churches, and encouraged one of our FIRE missionary’s staff and students.
I must say: the ministries I visited are strong, busy about the work of the gospel, and doing many great things! BUT they need our prayers. The current radical Hindu government intends to eradicate Christianity from India in the next five years, and many are being persecuted for their faith. Please pray that the Church would be strong in the midst of persecution and would grow instead of decline!
While in India, I realized even more the importance of reaching out to the nearly 5,000 Indian medical students currently in our city in the Philippines. Please pray that our outreach efforts will be fruitful and effective!
Please continue to pray for our island, Mindanao. On Dec. 13th, President Duterte extended Martial Law for all of 2018.
On Dec. 22nd, a storm came, killing 200+ and displacing tens of thousands. The Davao River flooded; friends said their homes filled with water and mud within hours. The next day, a fire raged through a four story mall, killing 38 and leaving 3,000 unemployed.
Pray that God will bring healing and use these tragedies to reach our city, our island and our region.
Because of You…
As we look back at 2017, we want to reflect on all the Lord has done through our partnership this past year. Thank you for helping us…
- Lead 6 mission trips for students
- Send 8 FSM PH interns to 4 different countries
- Graduate 10 FSM PH ministers
- Minister at youth camps, a summer academy, Bible colleges and local churches
- Establish FI Asia, conduct 2 training tracks, begin partnership development in the Philippines
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
New Family Members
FIRE International Asia is indeed up and running! Praise Jesus, and thank you for your prayers! We welcomed another Filipino minister to our missions family this month: Manuel Castro. You can read about him, and 2 other FI Asia families, to the right.
Thank you for enabling us to be here, to send and support these diligent workers of the Gospel! Please feel free to post their photos on your fridge and pray often for these FI Asia pioneers!
From living a sin-filled life in the city garbage dump to preaching the Gospel in the rugged, undeveloped mountains, Manuel has quite the testimony! At times he has to cross rivers and hike up to eight hours to reach the forgotten tribal people of our island. His heart is to see the children and youth in these areas impacted by the love of God.
